Join us in creating ‘Friends of MVC’. A new parent and carer community group for Melbourn Village College
We’re excited to begin shaping a brand new parent and carer community group for Melbourn Village College: Friends of MVC. This will be a fresh initiative built entirely from scratch — and we’re looking for enthusiastic people to help us bring it to life.
Whether you’re a parent, carer, neighbour, former student, or simply someone who cares about supporting young people in our community, your voice and energy can help shape something meaningful.
What is Friends of MVC?
Friends of MVC will be our school’s new volunteer‑led association — like a PTA but tailored to the needs and character of a secondary school. Once established, the group will help to:
- Strengthen links between the school and the wider community
- Support events, activities, and enrichment opportunities
- Raise funds for projects that directly benefit students
- Bring fresh ideas, skills, and perspectives into school life
This is a chance to build something positive and lasting for the school and its families.
We’re starting from the beginning, and that’s where you come in
To launch Friends of MVC, we need a small group of volunteers willing to help shape the foundations. This includes:
- Forming an initial steering group
- Drafting a simple constitution
- Agreeing the group’s aims and structure
- Setting up roles such as Chair, Secretary, and Treasurer
- Planning the first year of activities and events
You don’t need prior experience — just enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to collaborate. We’ll work through each step together, with support and guidance available.
Who we’re hoping will get involved
- Parents and carers of current students
- Members of the local community
- Alumni and friends of the school
- Anyone with skills in organising, fundraising, finance, communications, or community engagement
- People who simply want to help make a difference
Every contribution matters, whether you’d like to take on a committee role or simply help shape the early conversations.
Why this matters
A strong, active Friends group can:
- Enrich the school experience for every student
- Build pride and connection across the community
- Support projects that otherwise wouldn’t be possible
- Create a welcoming network for families
- Give parents and carers a stronger voice in school life
This is an opportunity to create something that will benefit students for years to come.
Interested in helping to build friends of MVC?
We’d love to hear from you. Please contact the school office on [email protected] to register your interest, and we’ll be in touch with details of the first informal meeting.
There’s no commitment at this stage — just an invitation to help shape a new chapter for Melbourn Village College.
